R&D Technician

To assist in continuing our growth, we are seeking a motivated, hands-on team player, to play a key role in the operation of our material, coating, and cell testing labs. You will work closely with the materials R&D, manufacturing engineering and applications engineering teams to assist in material preparation and testing, lab/equipment organisation and maintenance, as well as the chance to contribute to materials characterisation and cell and module testing for material- and cell-level quality control and understanding. Achieving the goals of the role will be challenging but rewarding, and you will be expected to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, self-organisation, and teamwork as part of a multi-faceted team within the company.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to material and electrode development, preparation, and testing
  • Contribute to cell and module testing of large format cells
  • Process electrochemical, and material characterisation data and summarise/document results to identify property-performance relationships
  • Maintain lab equipment and lab facilities, organising work with suppliers or manufacturers where required
  • Order and keep track of relevant equipment and consumables for uninterrupted operation of new and established processes
  • Maintain procedural and safety documentation records to a high standard
  • Ensure strict safe working standards are followed and promote a safe, collaborative and inclusive working environment

Key Requirements:

  • Interest in battery technology and hands-on practical laboratory work
  • Relevant practical experience with mechanical and electronic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance is a plus
  • Comfortable analysing datasets with software such as Excel or JMP
