Following a series of exciting contract wins and extensions one of the UK's largest and most successful Facilities Management (FM) providers have need to recruit an Electrical Senior Authorising Engineer (SAE).

The accounts you will be aligned to are within Government, Healthcare and Education, and consist of a variety of facilities from simple buildings to complex, critical environments. The sites are maintenance by a mix of mobile and static engineers of varying abilities, from lesser experienced electricians to HV APs.

Each account consist its own engineering resource plus leadership team, and are at different stages of their lifecycle, from recently mobilised to having been extended.

To ensure a consistent and coherent engineering standard this SAE is fundamental, working to JSP 375.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Authorising Engineer to progress their career across a prestigious raft of accounts, working with SMEs for a world class employer looking to advance their reputation as a cutting edge Hard FM provider.

Actions will include:

  • Act as Authorising Engineer M&E in accordance with the employer and Account-specific Safe System of Work processes and procedures.
  • Assist the account site engineering teams to deliver a safe, compliant, cost effective and responsive service for all clients.
  • Oversight of the delivery of projects, including writing or reviewing design specifications, supervision of installation and commissioning of works being carried out by supplier
  • Lead the resolution of incidents or unsafe conditions identified in the work environment.
  • Support the Site/Regional Engineering Managers in ensuring the Engineering Teams’ skills and knowledge are sufficient to support current / future business needs together with the identification, provision and coordination of all appropriate training complete with mentoring / coaching and assessment.
  • Implement, administer and audit Safe Systems of Work, including carrying out Electrical AE duties as assigned and, more widely, the employer and Account-specific Statutory Compliance requirements. Promote and ensure the highest levels of Health and Safety are achieved across sites.
  • Be responsible for setting the Safe System of Work requirements for High Risk activities on sites
  • Interview, assess and appoint Authorised Persons on the account in line with company policies, standards and procedures
  • Lead a team of Authorised Persons to coach and mentor teams on what good Safe Systems of Work compliance delivery requires
  • Define the exact extent of the systems and installations for which each Authorised Person is responsible and, where appropriate, any part of the system which is excluded from the Authorised Person responsibilities
  • Maintain a register of all Authorised Persons
  • Report to management any deficiency in the number of suitably trained and experienced Authorised Persons where this significantly impairs management’s ability to provide a safe and efficient service
