We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join a team of skilled engineers based in Rochdale specialising in turnkey systems for the manufacture of a wide range of products.

In this role, you'll oversee project risk assessment, schedule coordination, and design approvals, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project milestones.

  • £40,000 - £50,000 per year
  • Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm / Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm
  • Unlimited overtime available (paid at enhanced rate)

What will you be doing as a Project Engineer?

  • Assessing project risks based on tender stage feedback, collaborating with various departments to develop and align project schedules with customer timelines
  • Coordinating with the design office manager for design specifics, overseeing material ordering
  • Pre-ordering long lead-time items to prevent delays and monitoring and meeting project financial milestones
  • Ensuring the Electrical Department has the necessary details for control system development when required
  • Maintaining a detailed list of deviations from initial quotes and contracts, liaising with the Sales Engineer for negotiation and adjustments
  • Maintaining clear on-site communication among all parties involved, documenting completed equipment with photos for internal records and marketing
  • Organising equipment testing, FATs, and pre-delivery inspections, facilitating customer equipment inspections
  • Preparing and issuing installation, operation, and maintenance manuals in compliance with regulations, and organising and overseeing the installation process, potentially managing subcontractors
  • Compiling and distributing necessary documents for installation, commissioning, and sign-off, coordinating with commissioning teams for equipment testing and handover as per contract terms
  • Ensuring timely completion and storage of handover documents post-commissioning and providing ongoing technical support and backup for the equipment's lifespan

What do you need?

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • A HNC Engineering qualification (or equivalent)
  • The ability to read & interpret engineering drawings
  • Exposure to projects for food manufacturing equipment and/or pressure vessels (desirable)
