JOB OVERVIEW

Midland Structures Ltd are seeking a time-served welder/fabricator to join our growing team. Commutable to Brierley Hill, you will have hands-on experience working with structural steelwork and will be able to fabricate often complex assemblies by working from technical drawings. You must have the required level of technical know-how to be able to operate and troubleshoot our industry-leading AGT BeamMaster robotic welder. RATE                     £14.00 - £15.50 p/h, subject to experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate robotic welder purpose-built for the fabrication of large structural steel components.
• Utilise existing knowledge of fabrication to read from Tekla drawings before using a digital projection tool to mark-up pieces for fabrication.
• Use MIG welding equipment to tack weld into place.
• Adjust and set the automated robotic welder to run the required programme before preparing the next piece for processing.
• Work to critical dimensions and tolerances, often with minimal supervision.
• Problem solve / troubleshoot any issues to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Assist in quality control during manufacturing stage.
• Implement routine machine cleaning & maintenance, focusing on preventive maintenance.
• Load / unload steel (this may require use of an overhead crane & other heavy machinery).
• Manual lifting & manoeuvring of materials.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety & company standards.
• Train new & existing staff on machine operation procedures (as and when required).
• Have a flexible approach to working additional hours (dictated by workload).

Our 70,000 sq. ft. factory is equipped with two cut and drill lines, submerged arc welding, in house shot blasting, plasma cutting, robotic coping, off site assembly and a dedicated intumescent paint facility.
