We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Test Rig Civil Engineer, to be involved in industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
Job Purpose
The Development Engineering organisation is accountable for proving that the SMR power station design meets its objectives and requirements. It is also accountable for providing data and evidence to support the development of the power station design through the execution of test, demonstration and research and technology programmes. This encompasses not just the domain of nuclear engineering, but the broader range of engineering functions necessary to deliver a major infrastructure project.
Our test programmes cover a wide spectrum of the engineering disciplines, including for example fluids, thermal-hydraulics, mechanical, civils & modular construction, controls and instrumentation, materials & chemistry.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Test Rig Civil Engineer to join the team, to support the Civil Demonstrator test programme.
Key Results & Achievements
Reporting to the Testing Manager the Test Rig Civil Engineer will be deployed to support the Civil Demonstrator Test Programme under the direction of a Test Lead.
They will support the definition of packages of work. Depending on the type of test, this could include requirements definition, concept design, analysis, testing specification, etc.
They will use their expertise in Civil Engineering to ensure the successful delivery of those work packages is achieved and being an intelligent customer.
They will provide technical support to demonstrate the maturity of the design/test to stakeholders at governance reviews.
They will work with the supply chain to ensure key points of knowledge are being captured and communicated within RR SMR.

Criteria 1
Civil Engineering - Knowledge and experience of Civil engineering, ideally around concrete and pre-cast concrete.
Criteria 2
Test Programmes - Experience in the execution of test programmes to ensure they generate the required verification or validation evidence, including as applicable through scaled tests or sub-element testing.
Criteria 3
Presenting Information to stakeholders - Experience in taking information, understanding, and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, which includes formal communications such as gate reviews to the appropriate stakeholders.
Criteria 4
Problem solving - Ability to identify risk or issues early and proactively resolve them with minimal supervision.
Criteria 5
Safety culture - The ability to model strong and positive safety behaviours and to instil it in others, including respectfully challenging others and taking the initiative to build a strong safety culture.

Pay and Benefits
We anticipate a paying salary of between £40,000 & £55,000, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.
