Senior Commercial Manager

£70,000 - £85,000/annum Car/ allowance, package

Be in-charge of all Commercial functions for respective depot/route/region. This includes and not limited to Cost Management, Budget Management, Project Specific Management (PSM) cost, change control, risk analysis, forecasting, applications, CVRs etc.

Be able to undertake all duties of a Senior QS/QS if needed.

Reviewing Monthly commercial reports and cashflow forecasts prior to presentation to Alliance Management Team.

Negotiation and commercial management of the main subcontract packages.

Negotiation and commercial management of the standard subcontract packages.

Supplier engagement and management of subcontracts.

Support Operational team with forecasting subcontracts, change management and efficiency reporting.

Negotiation of long lead items and bulk buys

Management of Owner Participant subcontracts and key suppliers.

Reviewing risk and ensuring mitigation strategy is in place including participation in Quantitative Risk Assessment and Value Management Workshops.

Management of and supporting development of employees promoting a team working environment and proactively instil safety and commercial awareness throughout the Project Team including undertaking PDR's.

Responsible for ensuring all targets, estimates, forecasts, changes, risks are raised/reviewed and agreed in timely manner and in line with alliance contract requirement.

Work closely with finance, procurement, legal and project team to ensure all contractual, financial and legal commitments are met and delivered to high standards.

As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.

Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.


Strong commercial & financial acumen.

Working knowledge of Network Rail forms of contract and NEC contracts.

Experience dealing with Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers.

Experience of working with senior management teams including client and contractor teams.

Methodical style of working with ability to time-manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines.

Ensure all reporting deadlines are met as per the contract.

Team player and effective communicator.

Legal understanding relevant to contracts.

Experience of managing commercial solutions on bids.

Acts as mentor to all grades in commercial and ability to develop and recruit staff.

Detailed understanding of the contract conditions used by the division.

Knowledge of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) methodology.

Ability to lead and mentor team.


Experience

5 - 10 years relevant commercial and cost management experience in railway and/or construction industry.

Knowledge of commercial contract management., Degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent), a degree in Engineering.

MRICS or equivalent
Chartered or Possibly working towards achieving chartership.
