We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a team of skilled engineers based in Rochdale specialising in turnkey systems for the manufacture of a wide range of products.

In this role, you'll be responsible for designing and detailing both custom and standard equipment, ensuring adherence to quality standards and utilising tools like AUTOCAD and 3D.

What’s on offer?

  • £38,000 - £42,000 (d.o.e)
  • Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm / Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm
  • Unlimited overtime available (paid at enhanced rate)
  • 31 days holiday (rising by 2 days for 5 years)

What will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer?

  • Following and contributing to improving the Design and Technical Departments' practices
  • Understanding and applying relevant industry standards and regulations, such as EN standards, CE marking, and pressure vessel codes
  • Conducting site visits and surveys as required
  • Collaborating closely with various departments within the company
  • Designing both custom and standard equipment using AUTOCAD and 3D tools, ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Using company standards to minimise unnecessary design work
  • Updating designs based on manufacturing feedback to ensure continuous improvement
  • Ensuring accuracy and correctness in all assigned tasks
  • Avoiding progressing with incorrect designs or instructions
  • Maintaining professionalism and courtesy with colleagues and customers
  • Considering cost-effective solutions when purchasing parts and quoting jobs
  • Adhering to company safety policies and maintaining a clean workspace
  • Fostering a flexible, cooperative team environment that welcomes challenges and change positively

What do you need?

  • Previous experience designing manufacturing and/or processing equipment
  • A level 3 engineering qualification or time served as an apprentice
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
  • Comfortable with producing both 2D & 3D drawings
  • Experience with manufacturing pipework pressure vessels (desirable)
