We’re hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a skilled and experienced workforce at an ultra-modern manufacturing facility based in Stockport to deliver mechanical system designs that meet customer specifications.

As part of the engineering team responsible for the delivery of engineering projects on time and on cost, you will ensure technical performance standards are maintained while assisting with continuous improvement of the design engineering capability.

What will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer?

• Interpreting technical specifications, checking drawings and developing design solutions working in conjunction with designers within the team
• Preparing technical documents such as specifications, reports, manuals, procedures
• Undertaking hardware development and testing
• Compiling technical documents and test specifications
• Liaising with suppliers and acting as a representative at customer review meetings
• Providing support for the Production, Test and Field Engineering teams
• Supporting the sales team with bids and quotations

What do you need?

• Qualified to Degree level in relevant engineering subject
• 5+ years experience in design, testing and development of mechanical systems
• Medium to heavy engineering experience
• Understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures
• Proven experience in the design of systems from original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production in a Lead role
• Excellent IT skills (MS package and analysis tools)
• Hands-on 3D CAD design expertise
• Knowledge of Access and Teamcenter would be an advantage
