As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled Steelwork Fabrication Estimator to join their dynamic team. They are involved in supplying their expertise within the UK Rail and Highways sector.

Job Description:

As a Steelwork Fabrication Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our pre-construction process, providing accurate and competitive estimates for steel fabrication projects. Your attention to detail, industry knowledge, and analytical skills will contribute to the success of our bids and the overall profitability of our projects. If you have experience working as an Estimator with a civil engineering background you need to read on. My client are a well established business, employing around 60 people and are looking to add an additional Estimator to their team.

Responsibilities:

1. Review Project Specifications:

Analyse and interpret project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand client requirements.

2. Quantification and Take-off:

- Conduct material take-offs and quantify the required steel components for fabrication.

- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure accurate interpretation of design

requirements.

3. Cost Estimation:

- Prepare detailed cost estimates for steel fabrication projects, including labour, materials,

equipment, and overhead costs.

- Utilize industry-standard pricing databases and historical data to ensure accuracy.

4. Bid Preparation:

- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that are competitive, compliant, and aligned with

client expectations.

- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to develop winning strategies.

5. Vendor and Supplier Relations:

- Obtain and evaluate quotes from vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and

quality.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.

6. Risk Assessment:

- Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with each project.

- Provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.

7. Communication:

- Effectively communicate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to gather

necessary information and clarify project requirements.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Steelwork Fabrication Estimator in the construction or steel fabrication industry.

- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
