An exciting opportunity has become available for a Steel Detailer or Draughtsman/woman to join a well-established business, based in Andover.

Salary - £40,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience) + bonus

Job type - Permanent

Working Hours - Mon - Fri (ideally 07:00 - 16:30 with a 1-hour lunch but this is open for discussion)

Key skills required for a Steel Detailer:

• Ideally a minimum of 3 years prior experience in structural steel detailing with Tekla Structures, but we are willing to train candidates who show a strong aptitude for learning.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate drawings.
• Good interpersonal teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work alone as well as part of a wider team.
• Positive attitude and approach to working.
• Results-orientated with the ability to work to tight timelines.
• Strong time management skills including working on multiple projects.
• Process-driven with attention to detail.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.

Key responsibilities for a Technical Designer:

• Continue to develop in the use of Tekla Structures, working closely with our experienced detailers and using the learning resources provided by Tekla.
• Assist the detailers, working closely with them to assist in the preparation of detailed structural steel drawings, including plans, elevations, sections and connection details.
• Practically assessing the required steelwork and working with the customer to deliver their requirements.
• Communicating with the customers so they are clear as to our service and the next steps in the process from order to delivery.
• Create general arrangement drawings for customer approval, using the information provided by the customer (usually engineers and architects drawings, along with site provided setting out dimensions).
• On drawing approval, a fabrication package will need to be produced for operations to order all required material and the workshop to fabricate from.
• Maintain organized project files for full traceability of projects.
• Identify and resolve design issues through collaboration with the design team.
• Resolving any client issues and complaints to maintain trust.
• Completing administrative tasks as requested by the Management Team, such as planning and presenting reports on steel sales progress and goals.
