A new opportunity is available for a Maintenance Engineer to join a rapidly expanding company that delivers the highest quality products within the food and feed industry. This company is approaching 100 years of experience with specialists in their field and is based in Derbyshire, worldwide they have a team of almost 9,000 colleagues in 32 countries which is only growing. This is a newly created role for an Electrical bias Maintenance Engineer to join the team in Ashbourne. It will be working a 3-shift system of Mornings, Afternoons, and Nights with a salary of £43k, Bonus, Shift Premium, Contributory Pension, Healthcare Benefit, and 25 days holiday + statutory.

The responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer are as follows:

  • Checks and assesses the condition of handling equipment, pneumatic and/or mechanical/electrical, reception and silo installations, grinding, mixing and pressing lines, bag filling, feed and/or fertilizer, bulk loading, and weighbridges, based on maintenance schedules/checklists
  • Restores (imminent) defects and performs corrective maintenance activities arising from inspections (according to schedule)
  • Signals to the superior (potential) flaws with details of the nature and severity, proposes solutions to avoid (future or recurring) problems with the functioning of (parts) of equipment/machinery/transport systems.
  • Orders/polls spare parts and materials for maintenance
  • Works on planned maintenance activities of a more extensive and/or complex nature (i.e. during maintenance stops), and may supervise technicians of third parties.

Requirements of the Maintenance Engineer

  • Qualified time-served apprenticeship. (Level 3 qualified).
  • Experienced Maintenance Engineer with Electrical Bias and Mechanical competencies.
  • Background in food, preferably feed systems, auto weighing, bagging lines, LEV, packaging, and palletizing equipment.
  • Proven track record working at a competent level of expertise on PLCs, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Willing to work a 3-shift system
