Materials Handling Support (Test Services)

£18.01/hr PAYE (Inside IR35)

Cranfield, Bedfordshire (based fully on site)

12 month initial contract

As a Materials Handling Support, you will inspect vehicle parts to ensure they adhere to the technical drawings and ensure timely receipt and booking in of test parts. You will also ensure that stock is controlled using databases and provide excellent customer service to support projects.

In your first few weeks in this Materials Handling Support role, you can expect to:

• Inspect vehicle parts to ensure they adhere to the technical drawings.
• Gain understanding of how to use handheld measuring tool (verniers, vernier callipers, feeler gauges etc.) accurately.
• Receipt of Goods In & Out, to include unloading of test parts in a timely manner.
• Liaise with Customer groups to advise of test parts arrival.
• Pick test parts for use by test groups.
• Support the Team Leader to meet targets to ensure performance of the department.
• Support section management to maintain Health & Safety
• Work with the team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and capture knowledge.

• Practical application experience in the motor trade, technician, stores/goods inwards & outwards environment
• Knowledge of and ability to recognise vehicle parts to ensure they adhere to the technical drawings
• Ability to accurately describe/report parts that have failed inspection to departments outside of the UK
• FLT licence – not essential but willingness to learn is
• A good knowledge and experience of using PC packages and ability to quickly learn bespoke systems
• Ability to use CAD and read engineering drawings or willingness to be taught
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage and prioritise own workload
• A team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Physically fit; ability to lift parts up to 23kgs
• Willingness to visit other locations to carry out inspections at suppliers’ locations.
• Current full UK driving licence
