ROLE: Setting Out Engineer

LOCATION:  Stafford
SALARY: Circa. £30,000 - £50,000 private healthcare, 23 days holiday, excellent in-house training, opportunity for progression

THE COMPANY 
Our client is a forward-looking company based in Stafford. They operate within a fast-paced and challenging industry. Collaboration is key to their success as they strive to develop innovative solutions to clients' needs, offering surveys in traditional Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographical Information System (GIS), and Building Information Modelling (BIM).

THE PROJECT

The client has been involved in numerous significant projects including Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport, HS2, Silvertown, the British Library, Olympic Park, Gatwick Airport, and Hinkley Point C. These projects represent a diverse range of infrastructure developments spanning transportation hubs, cultural institutions, and energy facilities, showcasing the client's extensive experience and expertise in delivering large-scale construction and development initiatives.

THE JOB

  • Utilising contemporary survey techniques and equipment, including total stations, GNSS, and data collectors.
  • Executing layout tasks for various construction trades.
  • Establishing survey controls, setting gridlines, conducting levelling, traversing, and other land surveying activities.
  • Addressing unforeseen site challenges with assistance from the team and management as necessary.
  • Consistently and accurately documenting survey data onsite according to specified criteria.
  • Processing field data in-office using software like AutoCAD.
  • Cultivating and sustaining client relationships to ensure satisfaction with deliverables.
  • Verifying the quality of onsite data collection and its successful integration into final deliverables.
  • Maintaining and preserving survey equipment in optimal condition.
  • Adhering to company policies, procedures, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Operating within site-specific risk assessment and method statements (RAMs).
  • Fulfilling additional responsibilities as directed by business needs.​

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This position entails working in a dynamic, fast-paced setting that undergoes frequent changes. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to adapt to these changes and effectively manage workloads.

  • University degree in survey related field
  • CSCS Card folder (required before starting work)
  • We are seeking individuals who can handle multiple tasks, exhibit  adaptability, and contribute significantly to our team.
  • Previous experience in surveying is required.
  • Must be willing to travel to various sites across the region.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and interact with clients onsite.
  • Possession of a clean and full driving license.
  • Legal authorisation to work in the UK.
  • Proficient in English with excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
