Jackson Hogg are proudly supporting a specialist engineering business with a Health and Safety Manager position due to internal growth. 

This position includes a car allowance due to travel requirements and also allows for flexible/hybrid working. 

The Health and Safety Manager position will cover three manufacturing sites across the UK and will report into the Manufacturing Director.

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risk, and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines. They conduct training, investigate incidents, and provide recommendations for improvement, aiming to create a safe and compliant workplace environment.

  • Covering UK Manufacturing as Health & Safety Menager
  • Define and develop the HSE Roadmap for manufacturing which ensures a safe and healthy working environment and culture for all employees.
  • Part of the Manufacturing senior leadership team
  • Assist the onsite Managers and Leadership teams in the interpretation and application of health, safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures through effective communication
  • Ensure that the HSE management systems are implemented and maintained across the manufacturing footprint.
  • Be the sponsor and subject matter expert for the UK manufacturing HSE platform.
  • Lead the interface with applicable government agencies relating to the HSE matters
  • Identify internal or external non-compliance to regulations or company standards
  • Provide comprehensive H&S technical expertise and be aware of emerging technologies.
  • Recognised as a specialist/expert in the field, with anestablished external H&S network.
  • Coordinate knowledge sharing with the team.
  • Member of a professional body – minimum NEBOSH, Tech Iosh – Institute of Occupational Safety and Health working to CMIOSH status.
  • Provides guidance and counsel on complex and unfamiliar situations and leverages other experts to develop solutions.
  • Risk Management , able to balance cost/effort/benefit against business and legal requirements.

Education/Experience Required

  • Recognised NEBOSH qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • Qualification or practical experience in multi-site manufacturing environment
  • Proven record of managing contractors • Practical experience of managing health & safety
  • Fabrication, welding, painting processes knowledge
