Specialists in providing engineered above ground drainage and water supply systems, Polypipe Building Services leverages offsite fabrication to design and deliver solutions to mechanical and public health engineers, M&E contractors as well as local authorities. Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years.

We currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our busy team in Aylesford. Working on a full time, permanent basis with us, you will be expected to plan, coordinate and oversee the management and supervision of all engineering maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective engineering maintenance support across the business with focus across our main production areas of Mixing, Extrusion and Moulding.
  • Implementation and control of planned (scheduled) maintenance processes and activities on all critical assets to support efficiency gains and cost reduction.
  • Management and analysis of engineering related KPI’s to support our strategy and realise our targets for improvement.
  • Ensure that all engineering maintenance activities are completed effectively and in a safe way with full compliance health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Active engagement with all business functions and major projects to provide a clear and consistent engineering support and drive improvements
  • Define and submit business cases for engineering projects, which support our strategic vision, and ensure they are delivered on time and within budget
  • Setting and agreement of engineering targets and objectives, ensuring that deadlines are communicated and measured to support manufacturing improvement.
  • Control and track engineering maintenance related projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Build effective relationships and collaborate with a range of individuals and department leaders at all levels across the organisation.

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven engineering experience and knowledge in a similar role
  • A demonstrable history of leading high performing Engineering teams.
  • Professional qualifications in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (BTEC, HNC, HND or degree).
  • NEBOSH or IOSHH managing safely (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a lean operational environment (where continuous improvement and change management was the norm).
  • Financial, problems solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships (HHS).
  • Previous experience working at a leadership level and with a medium size team.
  • An ability to write compelling business cases with a thorough understanding of ‘quantitative’ and ‘qualitive’.
  • Excellent communication skills across all business areas.
  • Ability to turn complex analysis into meaningful strategy.
  • People management and development will be essential for this role to build a team dynamic and culture that supports and improves our changing processes and business needs.
  • The role assumes a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills are required, together with the confidence to challenge the status quo.

Working Hours and benefits:

Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week.
