Morson Talent are currently working in partnership with Severn Trent Water who are currently looking to recruit for a Commissioning Manager with a proven track record in commissioning large complex water treatment works and pumping stations on a long term contract based in Derby.

Ideal Experience

    • Experience in commissioning raw water abstraction pumping stations and eel screens (we have two of these to commission as part of the water treatment works one on the River Trent and one on the River Derwent).
    • Treated water commissioning experience with chemical storage and dosing systems, coagulation systems, pesticide removal filters, treated water high lift pumping station, run to waste and UV disinfection.
    • Experience / understanding of control systems, SCADA interfaces, HMIs, PLCs etc.
    • The candidate will need to be able to work collaboratively with the contractors commissioning team and the delivery team.
    • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Have excellent stakeholder management skills.
    • Have experience acting as the Client under the contract in relation to the acceptance process for testing and commissioning documentation.
    • Have an excellent knowledge / understanding of the CDM Regs and the requirements of the Water Quality Regs.
    • Have good understanding of contracts ideally NEC4.
    • Be comfortable holding the contractors to account.
    • The candidate will need to develop the commissioning tests and commissioning plan working with the Contractors including SATS, FATS Testing Prior to Completion, Tests Post Completion, Handover and Acceptance.
    • Have experience with developing URS, PDS, Control Philosophy’s and be able to work collaboratively with Severn Internal teams including the EICA , HV, COSC, Operations teams (network and water treatment) and the Water Quality Team.
    • Be able to support the Delivery Team in liaising with the DWI and the Environment Agency.
    • Work with our electrical EICA engineer to trouble shoot the interfaces between the SCADA and the proprietary software being provided by the membrane supplier Nijhuis.
    • Work with the Water Quality Team and TPE to develop the new drinking water safety plan for the new source and amend the existing drinking water safety plan for the existing source.
  • Candidates will ideally have
    • Have a minimum of 8 years of commissioning experience in water treatment works specifically.
    • Ideally they will have a minimum of 15 years overall experience in the Water Industry and therefore be able to bring their wider knowledge and experience to the project.
    • Ideally a chartered engineer with a relevant professional body: IMechE, IChemE or ICE.
    • Have a full driving license as they will need be able to drive between Witches Oak WTW, Witches Oak Wetland and the pipelines connecting into the DVA.
