The Workshop Manager will oversee and manage the workshop plus a team of fitters. Working on HGVs and Trailers experience in Tippers and Walking Floors would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Previous experience of engineering supervision within a HGV environment
  • Formally trained in an engineering discipline, and qualified to C&G 390, NVQ level 3, or equivalent
  • Certificate of Professional Competence
Duties to Include:
  • Organising and directing the work of participants in a workshop.
  • Maintaining order and enforcing the rules of the workshop.
  • Supervising all workshop activities, especially technical issues.
  • Forecasting and ordering spare parts for specific jobs/special job or for stocks replenishment.
  • Following up on actual progress of each individual repair job.
  • Providing on-the-job training as well as coaching and mentoring to mechanics and helpers.
  • Monitor Workshop Performance and determine ways to improve overall operations.
  • Ensure effective implementation of all engineering policies and procedures
  • Maintain high level of equipment availability and reliability at optimal cost
  • Support compliance to all legislative requirements, and internal QHSE standards
  • Ensure continuous improvement in all engineering standards, using best practice
  • Manage workshop labour and administrative resources to achieve all specified maintenance standards and objectives
    Provide technical advice to location staff
  • Ensure all maintenance actions are carried out to appropriate standard and in within acceptable timescale.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are applied to all activities carried out.
  • Identify collective and individual staff training needs.
  • Deliver technical ‘toolbox talk' type information sessions to fitting staff
  • Maintain appropriate stock holding levels for spares, sundries, fuels and lubricants.
  • Liaise with external parts and service providers when required.
