We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Unit Manager to join our Aerospace operations in Sheffield. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring adherence to quality standards, maximizing productivity, and fostering a high-performance team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•    Implement and execute the company's health and safety strategy, promoting a proactive culture through audits, near-miss reporting, and fostering a safety-first mindset.
•    Conduct thorough accident investigations, implementing robust preventative measures to mitigate future risks.
•    Champion a sustainable 6S culture across all levels within your area of responsibility.
•    Drive quality performance as part of the site's zero-defect strategy, utilizing defined processes and tools to facilitate root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and rework reduction projects.
•    Manage overtime, productivity analysis, and optimization of subcontract/dispatch in line with departmental targets, proactively seeking cost reduction and performance improvement opportunities.
•    Assist in the management of inventory, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to maintain optimal levels.
•    Ensure world-class stock take performance, achieving an inventory accuracy of 99.98%.
•    Manage and monitor customer performance metrics (OTIF, arrears) across all product lines, participating in regular reviews to address underperforming areas.
•    Implement and execute visual production planning across all product lines, proactively developing recovery plans when behind the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
•    Maintain active cross-functional communication and collaboration with customers.
•    Analyse short-term requirements, identify potential risks, and implement mitigating actions proactively.
•    Monitor and execute training/people development through training matrix analysis, timely delivery of training plans, and 30/60/90-day onboarding.
•    Sustain a high-performance team through effective utilization of tools such as 1:1s, Performance Development Reviews (PDRs), and capability procedures when required.
•    Collaborate with the Maintenance department on preventative and planned maintenance activities, ensuring 100% adherence to autonomous maintenance checks.
•    Participate and support key site projects, assisting in delivering them in line with target dates.
•    Follow the company's disciplinary and absence management processes when required.

Qualifications and Experience:

•    Degree in a relevant field (desirable).
•    Qualification in leadership, management, lean tools & principles, or Six Sigma (desirable).
•    IOSH or other health and safety qualification (desirable).
•    5+ years of experience in a similar industry/business in operations management, project management, or related roles.
•    Proven track record of leading large teams and managing KPIs.
•    Quality-conscious with a "right-first-time" mentality.
•    Outstanding organizational skills and experience in delivering improvement projects.
•    Excellent people management, communication, and teamwork skills.
•    Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and work to tight deadlines.
