Due to award of long-term contracts with major energy clients our client is looking to hire an R&D Mechanical Design Engineer to join the business.

Job Purpose:

The R&D Design Engineer will work on developing new technologies & new product development from research, concept design, testing and rolling out to internal manufacturing and provide technical and practical assistance in implementation of customer inquiries and New Product Introduction (NPI) activity.

They will also be responsible for the practical implementation of the preliminary theoretical R&D process, you will also provide support to manufacturing, procurement, quality and engineering departments consistent with principles of introduction of new / improved methods and products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To take an active role in the creation of new product developments and technological developments
  • Overseeing the R&D, Design, Manufacturing and Testing of new and complex high-precision components
  • Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry, safety, business standards and regulations.
  • Develop existing standard products.
  • Organize and maintain existing engineering records.
  • Ensure all procedures are followed correctly and without exception.
  • Work with your departmental manager and team members to identify, implement and drive actions for continuous improvement.
  • Work with and support your own as well as other departments within the business to achieve departmental and Company objectives.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation at all levels.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely to your team and others, whether written or verbal, in order that expectations are understood.
  • Be flexible in your approach to duties in accordance with the requirements of the business.

The Person:

  • A bachelors’ Degree in mechanical engineering or relevant qualification in Engineering.
  • A solid understanding of design.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD modelling.
  • Preferred SolidWorks with knowledge of PDM or equivalent.
  • 2-10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • High degree of initiative.
  • Experience in blank sheet design/designing from concept
  • Strong Project Management experience.
  • Good communication skills – be able to get on with the team internally but also be able to communicate externally to other departments

Salary & Benefits:

  • 24 working days holiday + bank holidays - 1 day each complete year of service for the following 4 years until the maximum of 28 is achieved
