Senior/Lead Decarbonisation Consultant

Our Client is an established and respected company providing a range of consultancy and bureau services to a large number of high-profile commercial clients. Their business comprises three teams Technical Services, Bureau and Consultancy which provide energy services to our wide client base. The Consultancy team is responsible for the delivery of Decarbonisation, Compliance and Energy Management services.
They currently have a vacancy for a Senior Decarbonisation Consultant to join our team and to act as the lead consultant for our Decarbonisation consultancy Services.
Your time will be split between a home based role and a regular site visits to our client sites nationwide. The role will therefore be suited to a candidate with good transport links but with flexibility as to the candidate's home location. You will be used to working remotely from the office and have a proven record of delivering projects with minimal input from others. Note that there is the option to work from our office in Basingstoke and the Consultancy department coordinate attendance in the office where possible.

You will need to have demonstrable experience of delivering detailed building decarbonisation studies incorporating:
* quantifying baseline carbon emissions
* undertaking feasibility studies for low carbon heating and renewable energy technologies
* building energy modelling using recognised dynamic simulation software, preferably IES VE.

You will assist our existing clients in identifying potential decarbonisation measures and pathways by developing a detailed understanding of their buildings and processes to highlight where energy is used. You will need to have an excellent proven record of client engagement, report writing and technical problem solving.
You will have a good understanding of building services, building management systems, energy management principles and low carbon technologies. You will use these skills to undertake Energy Audits and site surveys to identify efficiency improvements and feasible decarbonisation options.
You will have a firm grasp of carbon scopes and be familiar with common methods for prioritising decarbonisation measures, including producing marginal abatement cost curves. You will be expected to write high quality, formal reports and present these to clients. You will normally be involved in multiple projects at once.
It should be noted that our client works as an independent consultancy and does not have ties to any manufacturers or installers. With the exception of sub-metering system installations for specific key clients, we do not undertake project delivery.

Key responsibilities for the role are:
* Account management
* Undertaking energy audits in a range of commercial and industrial buildings
* Identification of practical energy and carbon reduction measures
* Supporting corporate level energy and carbon reduction planning, and
* Supporting account management activities for key clients
* Limited day-to-day management of a small sub-team within the consultancy department

The following skills and experience are considered essential to the role:
* Strong report writing and communication
* Client engagement and management
* Proven ability to set and work to deadlines and budgets
* A proven record of delivering projects to a high standard with minimal input from others
* Proficiency in data analysis and the use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
* Ability to work independently, but act as a team member
* Solid building services knowledge with experience of conducting unaccompanied site visits and energy audits, including to EN16247 standard
* Practical knowledge and experience of on-site renewable energy and low carbon heating technologies
* Proven track record of delivering building decarbonisation studies focusing on scope 1 and scope 2 emissions

Minimum qualifications for the candidate are:
* Batchelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or a Mathematical science, (Building Services or Energy Engineering preferable)
* Experience of energy and building performance data analysis
* Experience of energy auditing, and preparing energy audit reports
* Experience of working in a consultancy environment, to deadlines and a fixed budget
* Experience of undertaking building energy modelling using recognised industry software, preferably IES VE
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIBSE)

Preferred qualifications and knowledge:
* Industrial process energy efficiency and process mapping
* Development of corporate level carbon and energy strategies
* ESOS lead assessor qualification is highly desirable
* Producing SECR reports and reporting methodologies
* Life Cycle Cost Analysis and Marginal Abatement Cost Curves
* Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001
