Brief

Highways Engineer needed for a multinational financial organisation based in Grimsby who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Highways Engineer that takes pride in their work.

*There is a permanent role and an 18-month fixed term contract available for this role. *

The successful candidate would have:

• Qualifications to HND/C level with a preference to degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of DMRB design standards and Local Authority procedures in relation to the design and construction of highway schemes under section 38 and 278 of the Highways Act
• Detailed understanding of Health and Safety legislation, working experience of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and understanding of legislative aspects of project delivery.
• A proven track record in the Highways and Transportation industry.
• Ability to work on own initiative with limited management.
• Proficient in the use of industry standard computer software including AutoCAD, Key Signs, Key Lines and Auto Tracks. Knowledge and experience of using 3D highway modelling software.
• Driving license

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Highways Engineer will include:

• Develop design briefs, prepare feasibility studies, detailed designs, specifications, scheme reports and contract data on a range of projects. Engage in design tasks with a forward-thinking approach, considering principles of conservation, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility.
• Lead and participate in design evaluations to uphold design excellence, while also monitoring evolving legislation and engineering standards.
• Support the Project Managers in the delivery of major schemes.
