Electrical Design Engineer

We are recruiting an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a talented Poole based team, working in the ultrasonic industry. We provide both standard and bespoke machinery for a variety of industries: automotive, packing, white goods, pharmaceutical, etc.

The Role

The role of an Electrical Design Engineer will be to design electrical drawings using Eplan for bespoke automation machinery. Working closely with the sales team and project engineers, you will propose and review automation solutions, creating full design specifications, ensuring all core requirements have been met. You will be designing from concept, all the way through to operation. This role provides the opportunity to progress your knowledge with machine safety and control systems.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Design electrical drawings using Eplan for bespoke automation machinery.
  • General electrical / machinery safety design and documentation.
  • Occasional travel to site to commission machines, electrical panel builds, machine wiring, and for client meetings.
  • Self-motivated and capable of meeting deadlines, with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to work professionally alongside colleagues and customers, and not afraid to get their hands dirty whilst helping with other departments.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should have the following attributes:

  • Degree or equivalent training in an electrical engineering discipline.
  • Experience in bespoke special purpose machine design.
  • A good understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and techniques, in the design and implementation of safety systems within the automotive industry.
  • Experience in electrical safety design using PAScal or Sistema.
  • Experience applying safety and functional testing to components systems.

Essential Skills

Candidates should have the following skills:

  • A proven problem solver.
  • A creative and analytical approach to design.
  • Experience using and/or an understanding of electrical control systems.
  • A good understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Good written and oral communication.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel).

Salary & Working Hours

  • Up to £45,000 per annum.
  • Bonus based on company performance, paid annually.
  • Mon-Thu (0830-1715, 30 min lunch break)
  • Fri (0830-1300, no lunch break)
