Are you an Purchasing Assistent with Manufacturing/Engineering Experience?

I have an excellent opportunity for you to step into a crucial role with a key client in Runcorn who are seeking a talented Purchasing Assistant to contribute further to an already strong and driven Supply Chain team.

As a Purchasing Assistant, you will be responsible for managing purchasing orders, ensuring key performance indicators are met with suppliers, co-ordinate inbound freight (operationally and commercially) and reviewing supplier quality issues. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and production, to ensure seamless operations and drive efficiency.

Key Responsibilities: Purchasing Assistant

  • Process purchasing orders based on supplied BOM’s.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to achieve and maintain KPIs.
  • Ensure that production areas have material availability at all times.  
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration within the organization
  • Maintain H&S standards in line with procedures.
  • Seek spot opportunities to reduce freight costs, packaging costs, inventory holding costs & internal materials handling costs.
  • Effectively communicate any supplier related issues to relevant stakeholders.  
  • Procure components, materials, and consumables to meet cost and delivery requirements.
  • Drive improvements on supplier relationships.
  • Compile and analyse reports and sales inquiries.

To excel in this role, you should have previous experience in a purchasing position within an Engineering/Manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and Excel is essential.

My client offer a competitive salary range of £23-£26.5k (depending on experience), along with an attractive benefits package:

  • Pension: Contributory pension scheme – 5%/3%
  • Holiday Entitlement: 23 days annually (inc. 8 statutory bank hols), holiday purchase scheme available for up to 25 days – available in January.
  • Salary reviews (timescales if applicable): Reviewed in January appraisal.
  • Laptop: Yes
  • Working Hours: 37.5hrs p/w.  8:30am-4:45pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-3:30pm Friday – 30 minutes flex in times Monday-Thursday and 1 hour flex on Friday.
  • Bonus (If Applicable): Discretionary bonus, payment normally each February.  Bonus based upon enterprise performance, site performance, team performance and individual contribution.
  • Parking: Free, on-site parking.
