Cambridge – Head of Electronics - £100K-£110K 

My Client is seeking a Head of Electronics to fulfill their business demands. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the entire product development process, encompassing concept and prototype phases to production and support. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in analogue electronics design, as well as power electronics.

Main Duties

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers to deliver innovative solutions, emphasizing delivery, ownership, and high performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversee project deliverables, collaborating with project managers and department heads to allocate resources effectively.
  • Prioritize customer support in alignment with business objectives and collaborate with key stakeholders to support product strategy and create electronics roadmaps.
  • Set objectives for engineering teams to foster growth and align with business strategy, ensuring skillsets meet technological and business needs for quality products.
  • Develop plans for skill development to support short, medium, and long-term business goals.
  • Enforce processes and identify opportunities for improvement, fostering a culture of continuous enhancement through KPIs and measurements.
  • Collaborate with other teams to support manufacturing activities, including yield and capacity improvement investigations.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Extensive background in hardware development, from conceptualization to delivery in medium volume manufacturing settings.
  • Proficiency in hardware architecture, with practical experience in designing solutions.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with a track record of making practical decisions.
  • Proven ability in people management, including goal setting, performance management, and team motivation.
  • Expertise in problem-solving, particularly in addressing complex issues and implementing change management practices.
  • Exceptional team leadership and interpersonal skills, encompassing recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and technical guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting and managing priorities, engaging both technical and non-technical audiences, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience with software, project management, and technical teams, with a holistic understanding of product delivery.
  • High level of technical proficiency to innovate and assess solutions across various hardware technologies, processes, and platforms.
  • Proven track record of innovation in process and technical solutions, enabling rapid development and market entry while enhancing quality standards.

The salary for this position will be circa £100,000 - £110,000 depending on experience.
