Senior Bridge Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer to join a leading design consultancy based in York. The ideal candidate will undertake the design of bridges, retaining walls and other civil structures for various design phases such as concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design. Projects include assessments of highway and rail structures, new designs and other rail structures like stations or temporary works design for a variety of private and government clients.
This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bridge Engineer looking to progress into a senior role or alternatively, a Senior Bridge Engineer looking for a fresh challenge.

The job role will include but not be limited to:
- Design of civil and structural schemes (bridges)
- Review and checks of other schemes prepared by others.
- Carrying out inspections and surveys of structures and preparing reports.
- Undertaking feasibility / option studies.
- Provision of site support to contractors.
- Preparation of project programmes and cost estimates.
- Supporting with work winning, project management activities and client facing, to ensure project delivery remains on plan.
- Production of quotations for clients and responding to tender enquiries.
Job Requirement
- Chartered, Incorporated or working towards it.
- Significant structures and bridge design experience to DMRB, Eurocodes, SHW and NEC contracts.
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a design team environment.
- Able to lead high quality structures/bridge technical design on projects including supervision of less experienced colleagues.
- Knowledge and understanding of constructability of designs is desirable.
