Purpose

This job description details the requirements for the role of the Principal Electrical Designer, reporting directly to the Discipline Manager – EC&I.

Primary purpose of role

It is the responsibility of the Principal Electrical Designer, to provide delivery of defined engineering tasks for different projects to the highest standards complying with legal obligations and client requirements. In addition, the role involves supporting the development of proposals for new business opportunities, provision of consultancy services and project management.

Major duties

  • Provide technical expertise for the specification, design, purchase, installation and commissioning within discipline area of expertise.
  • Provide on-going technical support to operations and maintenance departments for problems within engineering discipline.
  • Produce, review and understand associated documentation relating to the design, installation and operation within discipline area.
  • Assist in developing solutions to technical issues, budget considerations, project schedules and safety with a project in support of project objectives.
  • Assist in providing functional design specifications and/or datasheets for all items of equipment within discipline area, ensuring compliance with company procedures and all relevant standards.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, work instructions, standards and guidance documents as applicable.
  • Support the development of proposal and delivery for new business opportunities, including due diligence, consultancy and site mobilisation.
  • Manage improvement/change with projects
