Astute's Renewables team are partnered with a unique business in Mitcham, near Croydon, who collect food waste from around London to then process the waste through their anaerobic digestion facility. They are looking to recruit a Mechanical Technician to carry out maintenance and repairs at their award-winning Plant.

The Mechanical Technician will play a vital role in the day to day running of the plant and machinery. The role comes with a salary of up to £39,520, company pension, 28 days holiday, Monday to Friday working (some weekend/call out cover will be required).

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, you will:

• Day to day mechanical maintenance across the process plant
• Carrying our daily visual checks according to a maintenance schedule to then schedule maintenance tasks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
• Servicing and maintaining critical components on site such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, CHP (if competent) and all associated pipework
• Some installation of new mechanical components and equipment
• Looking for continuous improvement opportunities across the facility
• Taking ownership of the spares / stores function and liaising with the senior management team to keep this top upped where necessary
• Assisting with plant operations as and when required
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Mechanical Engineering Maintenance level 3 or equivalent

Personal skills

The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has:

• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience in a similar environment, i.e. recycling, power generation, energy from waste, process or manufacturing plants or an industrial setting
• Basic electrical understanding is an advantage
• Flexibility when it comes to overtime and cover when required
