Job Description:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for a wide range of electrical engineering tasks, focusing on internal, external, and emergency lighting design, small power and data system design, fire and security systems design, cable containment design, LV and HV electrical distribution, cable sizing, Amtech calculations, lightning protection systems, electrical plant room design, solar photovoltaic systems design, and battery storage systems design.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Low Energy Buildings Design:

    • Provide electrical services design for low energy buildings in the domestic, commercial, and public sectors.
    • Lead Electrical Building Services Design projects through all stages 1 to 6.
  2. Technical Expertise:

    • Produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, and technical reports.
    • Offer subject matter expert knowledge on Electrical Engineering Design.
  3. Mentorship:

    • Act as a mentor for Junior Electrical Engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  4. Innovation and Improvement:

    • Play a key role in developing and improving technical systems within the business.
  5. Client Relationships:

    • Maintain strong client relationships by delivering high-quality and sustainable electrical engineering solutions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in energy consulting in the building sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a Building Services related degree/apprenticeship.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in internal, external, and emergency lighting design.
  • Experienced in small power and data system design, fire and security systems design, cable containment design, LV and HV electrical distribution, cable sizing, Amtech calculations, lightning protection systems, electrical plant room design, solar photovoltaic systems design, and battery storage systems design.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of leading projects from conception to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
