Our Client is one of the UK’s leading pioneers in the race to develop and manufacture the latest Battery technology for industry, with an initial primary focus on supporting our ever growing Automotive manufacturing sector (but not exclusively!), ensuring that there will be a brighter and greener future for us all.

Working from state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the West Midlands, it is our pleasure to now be partnering our Client to help develop, build and nurture their team with only the very best talent!

As part of this growth, we are now actively seeking an experienced Commercial Accountant on a permanent basis – someone who can lead an effective finance function and engaged team to manage a system of robust, timely and efficient financial control, reporting and business support.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
  • To define a strategy for and implement the framework for effective operational financial control. 
  • To engage, lead, develop and mentor the finance team.
  • Accountable for the delivery of the Finance ERP workstream including scope, design, testing and timing.
  • Prioritise and support the project management team with validated and accurate financial status.
  • Ensure external stakeholder and customer satisfaction by timely reporting i.e. funding, campaigns.
  • Manage campaign and project accounting.
  • Designing and implementing the company costing strategy. Creating a job ‘charge-card’ matrix.
  • Encouraging and leading an end-to-end process culture across the company.
  • Ensuring that the drivers of financial results are clearly understood by stakeholders and management. Clearly define risk and off target and advise rectification measures.
  • Create and manage the financial policy, procedures and process database. Ensure validity, they are current and always meet business and financial legislative or governance criteria.
  • Create and manage a budgeting and forecasting framework and system for the company. 
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Should ideally be a Part-Qualified Accountant, although those qualified by experience may also be considered.
  • Should be an experienced Commercial Accountant.
  • You will be able to work under your own initiative and professionally represent finance in the business.
  • Should be a commercially minded person who understands added value and statement interpretation.
  • You will have the ability to adapt and change as the organisation transitions to operations and project-based.
  • An approachable individual that can engage at all levels of the business; encourage collaborations and implement financial support in an end-to-end process culture.
  • A good communicator who strives to provide finance for ‘non-finance’ colleagues.
  • You will need a strong grasp of budgetary control with the ability to enforce and manage procedural control and governance.  
  • A confident and transparent individual who is comfortable with escalating risk and issues. 
  • You will have strong financial analysis experience with a good knowledge of Excel and be confident in creating models and manipulating data from ERP systems.
It’s great if you also have the following:
  • Experience managing sales and cost allocation within ERP
  • Accounting experience gained from working for a Manufacturing company, although this is not essential
