Our client are a leading manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace and power generation industries. They are looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Professional, with a Project Management background within manufacturing. This would be a great fit for a meticulous individual who enjoys variety in their day to day.

Position overview:
This role will involve co-ordinating and driving the Pipeline projects across the site. Implementing Lean/Sigma into the various departments (Office and shop floor). Supporting the Operations Director to drive a culture of continuous improvement within the business, through delivering improvement projects and training and coaching members of the team.


Main responsibilities
  • Create and actively manage project plans.
  • Support and direct cross-disciplined project teams to ensure timely delivery of pipeline projects.
  • Implement visual management, value stream mapping, process management, set-up reduction, 6S, problem solving techniques, mistake proofing etc.
  • Liaison with other group businesses to transfer best / lean practices.
  • Manage internal and external project communications to all levels of stakeholders.
  • Conduct project presentations and compile reports.
  • Manage third party suppliers.
  • Create business cases for investments.
  • Establish KPI’s to measure success of lean implementations.
  • Train and coach functional heads, and their team members on the application of continuous improvement tools and methodologies
  • Engage the site in the cultural change required to meet targets.  In particular to embrace the principles of employee relations and ensure effective communication so that all employees understand the importance of efficiency and how they can contribute.
  • Manage resources involved in operations within agreed budgetary constraints through effective planning, programming and prioritisation of work activities.
  • Work with teams from customers and suppliers to drive operational efficiency.
  • Any other duties at the request of the Senior Management Team.

Key accountabilities:
  • Provide leadership in the deployment of a continuous improvement culture throughout all areas of the business.
  • Provide training in process improvement approaches and methods.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and technical teams to manage change.
  • Identify key opportunities for improvement; prioritise projects and their initiation and execution to deliver improvements in cost, quality, delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and monitor key process characteristics and improvement and control of processes using established process control and improvement techniques.
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformance relating to product, process and quality system.
 

 

Key Skills/ Qualities/ Experience: 

  • Ideally Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Prince 2
 

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Formal training in Six Sigma (ideally to Black belt/Master black belt level) and Lean Manufacturing and control methodologies. (SPC/Kaizan/TPM/6S etc) preferable.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of seniority.
  • Self-motivated with good organisational skills.
  • Experience in a related manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Goal orientated, highly motivated and organised with a positive attitude and an ability to influence change.
  • Excellent statistical and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability in working within teams and management of projects within tight timescales and budgets.
