Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Our Large Manufacturing client in Ashton Under Lyne is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager to build on the company’s strategy for improved customer service, quality, product cost, productivity and flexibility.
Salary - £55,000 - £60,000
Hours of work – Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am – 6pm ( 40 hour week ) some flexibility on shift patterns may be required dependant on business levels.
Duties:
- Managing team members within the Production Engineering Team
- Working closely with the Principal Engineer to ensure support is provided for routine production and NPI projects through the application of appropriate engineering skills.
- Manage and improve the business facilities
- Planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget.
- Assisting the business in its continued drive to provide a safe and enjoyable working environment for all our employees, customers and visitors.
- Champion Health and safety and bring a proactive approach that ensures working practices and processes deliver on company sustainability objectives.
- Manage the teams, holidays, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues, and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
- Ensure the business is supported in solving problems that affect production delays to help ensure delivery on time to the customer.
- Conduct audits and workplace inspections on a regular, agreed schedule. Ensure compliance with building security and safety regulations.
- Establish a robust, reliable, competitive network of suppliers and contractors.
- Project management of all business wide improvement and facilities projects in line with the capital and budget costs.
- Determine and define project scope, objectives, determine and manage resources and budget in an effective and efficient manner.
- Tender all projects to establish best market prices.
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan providing consistent updates to stakeholders.
- Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
- Evaluate project outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility and ensure KPIs are met.
Essential Education /Technical Skills
- Strong in Project management, Ability to set targets, achieve deadlines in line with defined budgets.
- Degree Level /equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.
- Experience in production or manufacturing engineering in a quality critical environment (5+ years).
- Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and automation systems.
- Strong IT skills – IT skills, Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft project.
- Proficient in use of CAD packages; Solidworks, SolidEdge, AutoCAD.
- Strong Negotiation, analytical and commercial skills.
