Mechanical Project Engineer - Commercial Offices Fit-out Project- Central London
Fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join well-established Market leader in the building services market, underpinned by their strong brand and long trading history. The business generates a turnover of over £100m with project values average of £30m MEP value.The client offers genuine career progression and ongoing support and training.
The Role : Mechanical Project Engineer
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Completing the technical submittal process on major plant e.g. boilers, CHP etc. and materials by staying in line with the specification and liaising to satisfy the design consultant and achieve Status A approval.
- Carrying out preconstruction procurement of mechanical plant; value engineering where possible.
- Packaging subcontract information, sending out for quotations, interrogating those quotations and appointing the successful contractor.
- Design development during the preconstruction phase, checking that all drawings/schematics/schedules tie up and are workable during the construction phase.
- Liaising with the sub-contractors,client and designers to overcome onsite design issues, clashes etc.
- Creating RFI’s for design queries, and Field Change Designs to encompass any design changes on site.
- Creating/updating RAMS, Task Brief Sheets and Inspection & Test Plans for varying packages to ensure safe installation and quality control.
- Creating Material Compliance Record’s for client sign off.
- Attending daily briefings with the onsite team management/supervision with a view to relay daily plans and avoid clashes and lost time.
- Liaising with team and logistics manager for successful delivery and plant movement.
- Writing access permits for sign off which has included rigorous planning with up to 10 days’ notice required.
- Ensuring quality control by monitoring completion of quality check sheets by the sub-contractor,
- Feeding into the programme, providing progress updates and realistic installation dates with any blockers or causes for delay listed.
- Arranging additional labour or extended working hours through site instructions in order to hit key dates when necessary.
- Attending design meetings, progress meetings, subcontractor application certification meetings etc.
- Managing all Commissioning sign off, ATPs / IST
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Ideally relevant Mechanical Degree Qualified
- Demonstrated previous experience in similar position
- Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information
- Demonstrated commercial awareness
- Relevant CSCS card
- SMSTS / SSSTS
- Good IT skills (MS Office, Autocad, BIM)
Salary & Package £70,000-£75,000 plus Travel Expenses, plus package
