Job Purpose

Are you ready to play a vital role in the delivery of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects? Join us at Sizewell C (SZC) Nuclear Power Station as the Environmental Consents Interface Manager. In this role, you will manage and coordinate the program for the delivery of construction environmental permits, consents, and licenses, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

As the Environmental Consents Interface Manager, you will:

  • Coordinate the delivery of relevant work streams to support construction environmental permits, consents, and licenses.
  • Ensure integration of permits and licenses into the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS).
  • Collaborate with design, construction, and SZC's Environmental teams to ensure timely delivery of permits.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to support permitting processes and requirements.
  • Monitor and report on construction environmental permits, consents, and licenses, identifying risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Develop professional working relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, regulators, and internal teams.

Contextual Information

SZC is a significant project, aimed at constructing a new nuclear power plant in Suffolk. As part of the SZC project, the Environmental Consents Interface Manager will engage with various stakeholders, manage regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Principal Accountabilities

Reporting to the CWP Environmental Consents & Sustainability Lead, you will:

  • Ensure timely delivery of construction environmental permits, consents, and licenses.
  • Co-ordinate activities with SZC's Environmental Team and other project delivery teams.
  • Support the development and oversight of the construction permits and consents delivery schedule.
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, and opportunities related to environmental permitting.
  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of construction environmental permitting challenges in major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong project management and assurance skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulators and planning regimes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree-level qualification in a related discipline.
  • Experience in environmental/construction consenting, permitting, licensing.
  • On-site experience in managing environmental issues in large infrastructure projects.
