Job Title: M&E Projects Manager, Norwich, Interim

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Projects Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical and electrical projects within our client’s organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of M&E projects, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, quality control, and stakeholder management. This role requires a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as excellent project management skills.

Main deliverables of the M&E Projects Manager include but are not limited to:

1. Project Planning:

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Identify resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Define project budget and monitor expenditures to ensure projects stay within budgetary constraints.

2. Execution and Monitoring:

  • Oversee the execution of M&E projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.
  • Conduct regular site visits to inspect workmanship, safety practices, and quality standards.

3. Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication between all parties involved in M&E projects.
  • Address stakeholder concerns or requests in a timely and professional manner.

4. Procurement and Supply Chain Management:

  • Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing vendors, obtaining bids, and negotiating contracts.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material shipments to project sites as needed.

5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure M&E projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Address any non-conformities or deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.

6. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members to foster professional growth and development.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and innovation.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or relevant experience.
  • Proven experience (10 years) in project management, particularly in the mechanical and electrical engineering field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and power distribution.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading project teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer) are a plus.
