The below job description will outline this position of: Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer.

Typically, this person will act as a Technical Lead for the OPA Major Projects team in respect to EC&I Engineering activities, associated with the Major Projects which are currently ongoing across our Oil Fuel Depots.

Duties and responsibilities of the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer:

  • Plan & manage the programme of EC&I with major projects and deliver them to company standards.
  • When needed work as a technical lead to provide guidance with the team on EC&I matters.
  • Confident in building strong credible working relationships with all internal stakeholders and in particular HSEQ, Procurement, other Engineering colleagues as well as with external stakeholders including our O&M Contractor, HSE, EA and our MOD Sponsors.
  • Help develop EC&I scopes of work.
  • Work closely with other department and create budgets for forecasts of work.
  • Manage and plan work packages for EC&I tasks associated with project delivery.
  • Apply the MOC Process for the life cycle of the project.
  • Have a strong understanding of in process control programming languages such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) or DCS (Distributed Control Systems).
  • Confident in working with High Voltage electrical systems following safe working practices.
  • Operating and maintenance of both 11KV distribution systems and 3.3KV motors and their associated starters.

Qualifications and requirement for the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer:

  • Degree Qualified ideally at Chartered engineer status or working towards that level.
  • Project management experience preferably within a COMAH regulated industry/operation.
  • Knowledge underpinned with experience in process control programming languages such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) or DCS (Distributed Control Systems).
  • Competent to work on high voltage (HV) electrical systems following safe working practices.
  • This should include experience of operating and maintenance of both 11KV distribution systems and 3.3KV motors and their associated starters. As well as a proven track record of resolving issues over a wide range of time frames utilising short-term problem-solving activities through to longer term strategic development.
  • Must have a full and clean driving licence.
