Company Overview: My client is a leading provider of public transport services, committed to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation solutions. They are seeking a talented Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Manager to join their team. Ideally, you will have experience working with traction power, low voltage, and overhead line equipment, while leading a team in the maintenance and troubleshooting of essential infrastructure.

Position Overview: As the Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will oversee the maintenance and operation of traction power, low voltage systems, and overhead line equipment to ensure the reliability and safety of our transportation network. You will lead a small team of skilled technicians in diagnosing and resolving issues, implementing preventative maintenance programmes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality service in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of engineers and technicians in the maintenance and operation of traction power, low voltage systems, and overhead line equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and ensure the reliability of critical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise asset performance, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the development of engineering solutions and capital improvement projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in electrical and mechanical engineering, with a focus on traction power, low voltage systems, and overhead line equipment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
