Structural Engineer / Structural Steel Engineer - Required to join a respected and established family-owned business based in West Leeds. Our client specialises in structural steelwork design, fabrication and installation and due to ongoing success, the opportunity has developed a requirement for a Structural Engineer to join the team ideally with over 5 years' worth of experience within the industry.

The Structural Engineer will be competent in steel work design and should have the ability to hit the ground running. This role will require a Structural Engineer with excellent client facing skills as the suitable individual will be required to attend meetings. It would be highly advantageous for the Structural Engineer who successfully secures the role to have experience of Steelwork Design using Tekla Fastrak Design Suite (Portal Frame/Building Designer/TSD/Connections etc.) and ideally AutoCAD. A comprehensive background in Structural Steel Design will be desired for this role with relevant design codes.

• Salary: £30,000 - £55,000 DOE

Structural Engineer / Structural Steel Engineer Position Overview

• Designing structural steelwork using software and by hand for contracts which will range from 5 tonnes to 1000 tonnes to British Standards and Euro codes
• Designing cold rolled steelwork using manufacturers software and designing simple and moment steelwork connections.
• Attending design team meetings, preparing estimates for alterations and developing tender designs into accurate tenders
• Liaising with Architects and main contractors during the design process and advising on potential design consequences and cost saving measures
• Forwarding design information to both the in-house draughting team as well as external.
• Preparing tender designs for structure during tender stages
• Manage projects from tender to completion

Structural Engineer / Structural Steel Engineer Position Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of Structural Steelwork
• At least 5 years' worth of design experience within a relevant discipline
• Ability to produce supplementary hand calculations
• Working knowledge of Euro codes and understanding steelwork fabrication
• Experience of using Tekla Fastrak Design Suite
• The candidate must be a chartered structural or civil engineer (IStructE/ICE)
• Ability to rapidly produce tender designs
