A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer at an innovative manufacturer of components for combustion, hybrid & electric vehicles based in Kent.

Develop real-time, safety critical powertrain systems for use within passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle applications.

This role is a FIXED TERM 12 MONTH CONTRACT.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Designing control algorithms & strategies (using Matlab Simulink/Stateflow), and autogenerating code for production intent software
  • Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications
  • Developing validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL and vehicle
  • Development of functional safety strategies to EGAS standard
  • Capturing and analysing customer requirements
  • Provide expertise for investigations and problem solving activities
  • Supporting the customer's engine and vehicle testing
  • Supporting system and hardware FMEA
  • Provide guidance to systems engineers and peers

Skills

Mandatory

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in developing real time embedded systems
  • Understanding of Matlab Simulink and Stateflow
  • Use of CCP calibration tools (e.g. INCA, ATI Vision, CANape)

Desirable

  • Experience of developing any of the following:
  • Fuel injection systems
  • Engine control features
  • OBD or powertrain diagnostics
  • Understanding of sensors and actuators (analogue, digital, H-Bridge, CAN-based, SENT)
  • Understanding of CAN, UDS and J1939 protocols
  • Experience of working for a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry
  • Experience of a production intent auto-coding environment
  • Experience of testing on bench, HiL or vehicle
  • CAN Tools (e.g. Vector toolchain)
  • Activity management tools (e.g. Jira)
  • Understanding of source code (C language)

Experience & Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Educated to degree level in engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in developing real time embedded systems

Desirable

  • ASPICE V3.1 awareness
  • ISO26262 awareness
  • Cybersecurity awareness
  • Microsoft Office tools

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am - 4:30pm with 30 min lunch break, Fridays 8am - 1pm with no lunch break.

Salary for this role varies depending on experience and includes 27 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, dental plan, onsite parking, staff discount with selected retails + wellbeing platforms, discounted gym membership and subsidised canteen.

Our client is open to a candidate that needs to relocate to the area of the site in Gillingham, Kent and will offer a relocation package of up to £6,000.
