They are looking for a Commissioning Engineer with a background in Water Engineering (waste and clean) to join their integrated team to lead the commissioning and completion elements of projects on the Yorkshire Water Framework.  The role will ensure projects are fully commissioned prior to being handed over to the end users with the correct documentation and adequate training to enable a safe, reliable and satisfactory operation. As a fully qualified Commissioning Engineer the key purpose of your role will be to manage the commissioning phase of projects and carry out all the commissioning related deliverables for the hand-over of new assets, in accordance with the capital delivery process.

Duties 

  • Performing and coordinating internal and external activities associated with project commissioning.
  • Providing estimates of commissioning durations.
  • Writing quality and commissioning plans and reviewing and updating these plans as necessary in consultation with the project team to reflect changes during the project and ensuring that the plan will achieve the scheme deliverables as agreed by the design team, construction team and client.
  • Ensure correct approval procedures are adhered to and all stakeholders including the client and their operations team are kept informed.
  • Carry out the implementation of the plan as a whole in accordance with approved company and client procedures.
  • Manage and supervise dry and wet commissioning and any relevant performance testing of the new plant, ensuring quality and environmental standards are met at all times during the commissioning phase.
  • Maintaining on-going communication with relevant Team Leaders / Senior Managers and clients when required to ensure effective communications on matters relevant to the project.
  • Contributing to the resolution of technical issues on projects and providing technical guidance to other team members, such as junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices.
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall project.
  • Managing the compilation of completion information to achieve project completion.
  • Promoting and developing the technical capability of other team members.
  • Developing innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour.
  • Continual professional development in the industry and keeping up to date with innovations and developments.
  • Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant Health & Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your line managers, project managers or by the business.
  • Lead by example to others on site and implement best practice procedures within the team
  • Ensure our people work to the company values and respect the public and their surroundings
  • Maintain quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001and ISO 14001.
  • Create and maintain good relations with clients, project teams and neighbours as well as any other stakeholders.

Personal attributes 

- A degree or appropriate higher technical qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering

- Have suitable commissioning experience gained through working on projects within the UK Water Industry.

- Have strong knowledge of the UK Water Industry Sector.

- Being able to work with a specific focus on multiple deadlines and being able to -communicate with senior stakeholders on the progress of projects.

- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Have experience in a client facing position.

- Have the ability to think in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner.

- Have a strong team-working ethic is essential.

- Have good people skills with the ability to work well as part of a team and to motivate others.

- Have a willingness to learn and improve skills.

- Have a positive attitude.

- Have excellent communication, organisational, planning and time management skills.

- Have a full UK driving license
