Elevation Recruitment are working with a Mechanical Handling business to help them recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for their site in South Yorkshire.

As the Senior Design Engineer, you will be influential in taking ownership and responsibility to produce conceptual designs, supported by relevant calculations and analysis. You will own and manage a range of design projects which will require production of detailed manufacturing drawings.

As the go to design specialist, you will work on complex engineering projects from concept stage through to the delivery, including installation and commissioning. These projects will be across several engineering sectors so the ability to manage multiple projects, to tight deadlines will be paramount. You will also have strong communication skills with the ability to correspond at all levels internally and externally.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer's duties will include:

• Liaise and communicate with shop floor staff, engineers, and customers throughout the project.
• Lead complex engineering projects from concept stage through to the delivery and installation.
• Design and modify bespoke products using SolidWorks and Inventor.
• Provide technical consultation with customers to determine project specifications.
• Manage and coordinate multiple projects from design stage to customer delivery.
• You will Keep focus on the critical path to ensure project is delivered on time to quality standards.

We're interested to hear from candidates with the following skills & experience:

• Qualified in Mechanical Engineering (HND or above)
• Experience using SolidWorks or Inventor and a working knowledge of MathCAD 
• Significant experience working on heavy mechanical handling equipment or rotary machinery from initial design to final commissioning
• Knowledge of Machinery Directives
