Salary: £550 per day umbrella


We are seeking a Interim Head of Strategic Highways and Transport for a local authority in Swindon. In this pivotal role, you will lead, plan, and be responsible for the Highways and Transport department, ensuring it supports and underpins the successful delivery of corporate priorities and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, plan, and be responsible for the Highways and Transport department, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the service, overseeing the planning and implementation of enhancements that positively impact the professional service and Council.
  • Develop and deliver the highways capital programme and major projects, including oversight and programme management of large-scale initiatives to achieve agreed outcomes and maintain sound financial management practices.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within Highways and Transport, with a track record of delivering results and driving improvements.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to oversee large programmes of work and manage budgets effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across departments and engage with diverse audiences.
