Questech are recruiting on behalf of our client in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
This client are a fast paced Production facility and are looking to recruit a:
Carding Engineer
The Person:
- A time served fitter/engineer or have a City & Guilds certificate (or equivalent) in Mechanical Electrical Engineering.
- Significant experience in fault finding, repair and general maintenance of machinery, hydraulics and other production associated systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work positively in a team environment.
- Detailed relevant health and safety knowledge.
- Able to attempt most aspects of mechanical engineering with little direction.
- Understanding of aspects of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Competent using MIG, TIG and electric arc welding equipment.
The Role:
- To maintain the carding machine and other machinery on-site including on-line fault finding.
- To lead the striping down and rebuilding of carding machines.
- Also, introducing continuous improvements to processes and manufacturing equipment to maximise cost efficiencies whilst ensuring excellent quality manufactured products for our customers.
- General maintenance duties, proactive and reactive on carding machines to ensure there is minimum downtime.
- Communicate details of scheduled downtime to the Maintenance Lead and the reasons, with solutions offered.
- Participate in trouble shooting and problem resolutions and continuous improvements.
- Update KPI board promptly with relevant information to pass on to your work colleagues.
- Carry out routine maintenance schedules to the maintenance schedule plan PPM.
- Prioritise production stoppages over daily duties.
- Installation work where required.
- Follow a “clean as you go” work ethic in accordance with good manufacturing practice.
- Identify improvements that can be made to production lines, individual machinery or other operations and ensure these improvements are communicated to the relevant team.
- Make Health & Safety a priority and take accountability for the safety of yourself and others including wearing appropriate PPE and following all Health & Safety procedures and guidelines.
This role is working a Monday to Friday - Day Shift (07.00am – 16.00pm)
The salary will be between £35,000pa to £40,000pa dependant on skills and experience.
