Senior Design Engineer

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

• Lead conceptual and detailed designs for both permanent and temporary structures, with a focus on steel.
• Develop method statements for erection engineering, ensuring efficient and safe construction practices.
• Design specialized equipment for heavy lifting and moving projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct static analyses of structures using advanced computer programs and prepare detailed calculations.
• Produce sketches and drawings using AutoCAD or other industry-standard software.
• Collaborate closely with the CAD team to streamline design processes and ensure accuracy.
• Assist in managing the design office, providing guidance and support to team members.
• Participate in heavy lifting and moving operations on-site as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

• Chartered engineer status or in the final stages of achieving it (MICE or MIStructE).
• 5 to 10 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering.
• Strong proficiency in analyzing and designing steel structures, with a focus on Eurocodes (EN 1993).
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) computer programs.
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite and email systems.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities.
• Relevant site experience, demonstrating practical understanding of construction processes.
• Positive team player with a proactive and innovative approach.

Preferable:

• Experience in designing temporary works, particularly for heavy lifting and moving projects.
• Familiarity with hydraulic equipment design.
• Proficiency in computer-aided drafting programs such as AutoCAD.

• Competitive salary range of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (Open to negotiation).
