About The Role:

Astute's Waste team is exclusively partnering with one of the UK's leaders in sustainable and compliant hazardous waste management services to support in the recruitment of a Landfill Manager. With a commitment to providing first class services, this role will be predominantly based their facility in Kings Cliffe with the need to travel to their other sites in the area. The Landfill Manager will be responsible for supporting 3 key facilities on their daily operational management as well as overseeing the teams.

The Landfill Manager role comes with a salary of up to £45,000 (dependant on experience) and the opportunity to progress your career within landfill and the waste management industry.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The overall management of 3 key landfill sites in the South, ensuring efficient and compliant operations at all times. Standards must be mirrored across each site.
  • Leading all projects surrounding landfill site development, including cell construction, cell excavation and restoration schemes.
  • Managing all compliance, site permits and regulatory requirements across the sites, monitoring operations in line with site procedures and restrictions.
  • Ensure materials coming onto and off-site are consistently safe and compliant, ensuring waste classification, handling, storage transportation and disposal processes consistently align with site permits and environmental regulations.
  • Drive correct sampling procedures, odour monitoring, water, stockpile management and leachate quality, checking samples against site allowances.
  • Ensure the site is safe and secure, enforcing safety protocols, site inspections and carrying out training where needed in relation to health and safety and hazard management.
  • Assist with non-conformance procedures and sample processing, ensuring records are maintained for all waste acceptance and disposal.
  • Assist with the daily/weekly plan for the operational areas to successfully deliver targets, KPI's and other requirements.
  • Ensure housekeeping requirements and continuous improvement programmes are supported both directly and through the plant team.
  • Undertake area administration activities and all other duties as required.



Professional Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Full UK driver's licence.
  • Previous experience working in a management role within an industrial Waste or Landfill environment.
  • COTC - HROC1, HROC4 qualification or equivalent.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH general certificate.
  • A chemistry degree or similar qualification would be beneficial.
  • Have experience operating mobile plant equipment - beneficial.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of the waste management sector would be desirable.
