Position Overview:
In this role , you will be responsible for continuous development and effective implementation of the organization's Health and Safety policies, practices and procedures at it's Coventry facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide professional knowledge and expertise in the coordination and support of Health and Safety processes
- Stay current on existing and proposed health and safety regulations while providing recommendations for changes to current policies/practices based on new or revised regulations;
- Provide details on regulations through research, case studies, and letters of interpretation; provide advice concerning compliance, laws, codes, regulations, best practices and standards
- Maintain a level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness to create a culture that prioritizes effective safety practices to reflect a commitment to an illness- and injury-free workplace
- Monitor standards, processes, communications and training to help ensure a safe workplace
- Conduct and lead Plant Safety Committees at each plant
- Evaluate workplace environments, equipment and practices in order to help ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
- Maintain safety plans and policies to correct unsafe behaviors and work conditions by utilizing knowledge or industrial processes and mechanics, health and safety laws, best practices, and environmental compliance; advise management of the effectiveness of these programs, the need for corrective action or preventive action, and implications of related laws and regulations
- Maintain effective health and safety programs that comply with relevant standards for H&S (HSE, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and and the Company's management system requirements;
- create and maintain process documentation including process flow charts, policies, work instructions, forms and records as appropriate
- Complete required environmental audits and reports in a timely manner
- Help prepare and retain emergency response plans and procedures
- Assist Supervisors and HR Department maintaining records of incidents or accidents, and lead investigations to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
- Conduct audits, drills, and measurements to measure and test the effectiveness of the programs and verify compliance with regulatory and Company policies; recommend and implement corrective and preventive measures
- Conduct training for employees for emergency actions, hazard communication, powered industrial trucks, crane, lock out tag out, use of safety equipment, health and safety topics; coordinate required training with new employee orientation to ensure compliance with training requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of personal employee and/or confidential company information; adhere to laws and government regulations relating to privacy protection standards in the workplace

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required:
- Comprehensive knowledge of HASAW legilsation and supporting regulations
- Proven ability to determine root causes of accidents and implement corrective actions
- Broad knowledge of health & safety principles, best practices and procedures
- Proven ability to communicate and present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software
- Be detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team and as a team leader
- Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum - NEBOSH General Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Associate's, or Degree in Occupational Safety or similar equivalent degree
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years' experience in a manufacturing facility
- Preferred experience with ISO9001 , ISO 14001 or TS16949 management systems
- Automotive and or metal manufacturing experience preferred
