AMP Rose are a well-established packaging automation company with roots going back to the early 1930s, with many patents.

We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Buyer to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth procurement of materials and equipment for our team of engineers to build world renowned packaging automation machines.

  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrate a strong understanding of commercial principles, including cost negotiation, budgeting, and value analysis.
  • Organization and Planning: Prioritise workloads effectively with a changing environment, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and solve procurement challenges independently, whilst seeking guidance when necessary.

Technical Competencies

  • Collecting and analysing data to help predict trends and forecast sales figures.
  • Identifying quality standards and ensuring that all products meet those standards.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to agree prices, quantities, delivery schedules and exclusivity deals.
  • Working with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products.
  • Delivering reports on sales data, marketing activity and other metrics to the senior management team and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders following company policy.
  • Track and monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities throughout the procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and new product developments within the interior fit-out industry.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

Personal Specification

  • Relevant experience as a buying assistant / junior buyer or high-level administrator.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Experience in using procurement software systems.
  • A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong Excel or database skills would be advantageous.
