FINTEC recruit is supporting recruitment for a Fabrication Manager for an established and growing mechanical engineering business in Southampton.  This is a permanent role with salary negotiable by experience, working Monday to Thursday 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 pm. and on Friday early  finish at 1:30 p.m.   For this role knowledge of welding, ASME, fabrication and pipework is an essential.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage the manufacturing process of projects, involving programming, engineering, material procurement, labour resourcing, QA & control commercial aspects
  • Drive business forward in delivering projects within tight fabrication schedules
  • Liaison with other internal departments in understanding contract requirements and reporting internal/external to the client
  • Ensuring industry standards are adhered to, including agreed inspections test plans in liaison with the QA dept.
  • Review fabrication drawings, identifying any potential issues
  • Review and create complete bill of materials for projects, complete daily progress checks and communicate internal with supervisors/managers
  • Preparing and workpacks for fabrication

Skills and Experience required for the Fabrication Manager role:

Experience of working in a similar role, having the following knowledge/experience:

  • Pressure vessel codes ASME VIII & PD5500.
  • ASME U & R stamp.
  • Pipe work codes ASME B31.3 / ASME B31.1
  • E.D requirements including CE and UKCA Marking.
  • Welding standards to ASME IX & BS 15614
