We are currently recruiting for a Steel Erector, to join the team at our Engineering client, with their Sutton in Ashfield based Head Office.

They are a well-established and market leading supplier of engineering solutions, specialising in the design and construction of metal fabrications, primarily to the water and energy sectors.

This is a permanent vacancy.

This role dictates you will be required to work away from home when required.

The Role – Steel Erector

As a Steel Erector, you will be responsible for:

  • Possess the ability to read and understand drawings and follow safe working practices in the pre assembly and erection of structural steelwork at low and high levels

  • Sling loads, signal and work with cranes

  • Working at height and operating high level access equipment e.g. Mobile Operating Platforms (MEWP’s)

  • Operate site plant and equipment

  • Reviewing technical plans drawn by architects and engineers

  • Planning project assembly

  • Cutting and shaping steel

  • Operating hand and power tools

  • Installing and fixing together steel girders, pipework and beam sections to make a steel framework

  • Using elevated work platforms and scissor lifts

  • Lifting and guiding components into position with tower cranes

  • Lining up and levelling steelwork before bolting it in place

 The Candidate

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Ability to follow engineering drawings

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent practical skills

  • Ability to work in a small team

  • Can do attitude

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Working on-site, often at height

Desirable:

  •  Valid CSCS Steel Erector card (training can be provided)

  • Slinger/signaller (training can be provided)

  • Valid CPCS Plant Operator Card or IPAF for MEWPS Operator card (training can be provided)
