Job Title: CAD Technician (Steel Fabricators)

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team in Sheffield. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing detailed technical drawings and models using CAD software, collaborating closely with our engineering and production teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures) to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of steel structures, components, and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and design requirements to develop accurate and precise CAD designs that meet project objectives and client specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to review design concepts, provide input on feasibility and optimization, and make necessary revisions as required.
- Generate bill of materials (BOM), material take-offs, and other documentation required for fabrication and construction.
- Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure compliance with design standards, industry regulations, and client requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, presentations, and reports as needed for project meetings and client submissions.
- Stay updated on advancements in CAD technology and industry best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in design processes.
- Coordinate closely with production teams to address any design-related issues or challenges that may arise during fabrication and installation.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client consultations as required to support project delivery.
- Maintain organized records of CAD files, drawings, and project documentation.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or similar programs.
- Previous experience in a CAD technician role within the steel fabrication industry or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and materials, particularly related to steel fabrication.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings and models.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving design challenges.
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- A relevant diploma or degree in engineering, drafting, or a related field is desirable.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) concepts and workflows is advantageous.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as Eurocodes and British Standards.
