Position Overview: We are seeking a talented CAD Technician with expertise in Tekla Structures software and a background in engineering to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings and models using Tekla, collaborating closely with our engineering team, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Utilize Tekla Structures software to create accurate and detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of steel structures, components, and assemblies.
2. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and design requirements to develop Tekla models that meet project objectives and client expectations.
3. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to review design concepts, provide technical input, and optimize structural designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
4. Generate fabrication drawings, erection plans, and material lists using Tekla, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
5. Conduct clash detection and coordinate structural elements with other disciplines to resolve conflicts and ensure constructability.
6. Perform model checks and quality assurance procedures to verify accuracy and integrity of Tekla models and drawings.
7. Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and presentations as required for project meetings and client submissions.
8. Stay updated on the latest developments and advancements in Tekla software, implementing best practices to improve efficiency and productivity.
9. Provide support and guidance to junior CAD technicians and contribute to their professional development.
10. Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

1. Proficiency in Tekla Structures software with a proven track record of creating complex 3D models and detailed drawings for steel fabrication projects.
2. Previous experience in a CAD technician role within the steel fabrication industry or a related field.
3. Strong background in engineering with a solid understanding of structural principles, materials, and construction methods.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve design issues efficiently.
5. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
6. Time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines.
7. A relevant diploma or degree in engineering, drafting, or a related field is preferred.
8. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) concepts and workflows is advantageous.
9. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as Eurocodes and British Standards.
10. Experience with other CAD software packages such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks is a plus.
